Due Amici is one of our favorite Italian restaurants. Growing up in Essex county NJ I’ve eaten good Italian food my whole life and Due Amici is one of the best in the area. All of the dishes are flavorful and taste homemade. I still have not been able to find stuffed mushrooms anywhere that are as good as Due Amici’s! I travel a lot on business and have dined at several 5-star restaurants all over the world but I still come back to Due Amici whenever I am in the area.

This family owned and operated restaurant serves authentic Italian dishes. It is family friendly and the ambiance is very comfortable with a ‘home away from home’ feel.

This truly is a hidden gem. What’s not to like?!? The ambiance is relaxing, the service is fantastic and most important of all the food is out of this world. Oh and its BYOB too so you can’t go wrong.

Best restaurant in essex county... The food is absolutely fantastic. Very large portions. Garlic bread, calamari, and veal dinners are particularly good. Service is usually very good. Never too crowded and you don’t need reservations. Very reasonable price. You get a solid entre with a side dish for $20 or so.

The food emerging from this kitchen was fantastic. We tried multiple appetizers. Baked clams delicate and moist, fried calamari in the most subtle batter ever, tender and spicy. Mussels Fra Diavolo in a wonderful spicy sauce - the real thing. Eggplant Rollatini - sliced paper-thin, with just the slightest layer of mozzarella, the ricotta flavored with parsley and pepper and egg - delicate and refined, not the monsters you get elsewhere. We split a pasta with vodka sauce - this was the best vodka sauce I have ever had, and the pasta was perfect al dente. Amazing chocolate mousse cake to finish.

I have been going here for years and just love it. I give it four stars not because it is the finest restaurant anywhere, but because I have always had such a wonderful experience overall, every time we eat there. The cute ambiance of an intimate restaurant offers excellent food, and very friendly service. Over the years, I have brought my college friends, business associates, our neighbors for a 15-guest dinner in the back room, and have dined with my wife for a New Years Eve quiet dinner. It is a BYO, so the price is quite reasonable. If you forget, there is a liquor store acriss the street. Also, parking is across the street.
